Prof. Onyeyih recalled that during the accreditation team’s earlier visit to the University in 2012, it gave the institution permission to commence the Veterinary Medicine programme. He said the current visit, which is the second stage, is specifically designed to ascertain how far the University had followed the laid-down rules and procedures guiding the establishment of the Veterinary Medicine Faculty.

He commended the authorities of the University of Ilorin for its overwhelming achievements in the areas of teaching, research and community development and especially on the University’s recent rating as the best in the country.

In his response, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Prof. Yisa Fakunle, said that the University had been doing its best to carry out all the directives the accreditation team gave it in 2012 regarding the establishment of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor thanked the team leader for rejoicing with the University over its recent ranking as Nigeria’s best University and disclosed that the authority is working assiduously towards making sure that Unilorin becomes one of the 100 best universities in the world.
