UNN Declares Total Indefinite Strike

AIT just reported that both campuses University of Nigeria Nsukka, UNN, have been shut down by all the trade unions in the institution.

The report further revealed that the unions have also declared an indefinite strike following the suspension of the Pro-Chancellor & Chairman of the institution’s governing council Dr. Emeka Enejere by the federal government.

Reports say the unions are demanding the sack of the University’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Batho Okoro who they accused of gross administrative failure. They threatened that if the federal government fails to reinstate the institution’s Pro-Chancellor and sack the Vice Chancellor, both campuses of the university located in Enugu and Nsukka will remain shut.

The unions includes the institution’s chapter of The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Non-Academic Staff Union, Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and other trade unions in the university.

The federal government is yet to disclose why The UNN Pro-Chancellor was suspended.
