Pandemonium broke out at the Delta State University when A non-academic staff of Delta State University and native of Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State was killed by unknown persons.
As at the time of filing this report the circumstances that led to his assassination had not been established.
However, sources close to Obiaruku where the late Mr Sam Ugbe resided until his death told our correspondent that on the said evening, while coming back from a weekly church service (Full Gospel Church, Obiaruku) at about 7:45pm, a group of young men barricaded the road and refused him access.
The source stated that he (Late Ugbe) tried to find out what was wrong, asking if they needed money from him but he was ignored.
The source further revealed that in an attempt to further inquire the cause of their action, the unknown persons stabbed Ugbe several times in his stomach and escaped into a nearby bush.
It was reliably gathered that he was later rushed to an undisclosed hospital in Obiaruku, but died shortly after.
When our correspondent visited his residence, sympathizers where seen in group discussing the tragedy, describing the late Ugbe as a very gentle and quiet man.
However, attempts to speak with the family were not successful as the family and everyone present were in grief.
At the Divisional Police Station, Obiaruku, the Divisional Police Officer could not be reached as he was said to have travelled out of the town for an official assignment.
However, sources close to the police station confirmed the report, saying that investigation was ongoing to track down the killers.
