The Management of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka wish to inform the general public that, Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into full-time, part-time and sandwich postgraduate programmes in variousFaculties, Institutes and Centres for the 2013/2014 session.

Candidates on full-time employment are not eligible to apply for full-time studies.

The available higher degree and postgraduate diploma programmes are indicated below.

1. FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE M.Sc. and Ph.D. degree programmes are offered by the Departments of Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Extension, Animal Science, Crop Science, Food Science & Technology, Soil Science, Home Science, Nutrition & Dietetics.

The Department of Animal Science offers M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Animal Nutrition and Biochemistry; Animal Production; and Physiology of Reproduction, Growth and Lactation.

The Department of Food Science & Technology offers the following areas of specialization:

Food Chemistry and Analysis; Animal Products Technology; Fruits and Vegetable Processing Technology; Cereals, Pulses, Legumes and Tuber Processing Technology; Quality Control and Assurance; Food Biotechnology, and Food Engineeringand Processing.

The following areas of specialization are offered in the Department of Soil Science: Soil Genesis; Survey and Classification; Soil Chemistry and Mineralogy; Soil Biology and Biochemistry; Soil Fertility Management; Soil Physics and Conservation; and Environmental Impact Assessment and Land Evaluation.

Department of Agricultural Economics offers M.Sc. and Ph.D. with the following options:

Farm Management & Production Economics; Agricultural Marketing & Agribusiness; Agricultural Finance & Project Analysis; Agricultural Cooperatives, Resources & Environmental Economics. PGD is offered by the Departments of Agricultural Economics, Food Science& Technology, Crop Science, Animal Science, Agricultural Extension, and Soil Science.

2. FACULTY OF ARTS PGD,M.A. and Ph.D. degree programmes are offered by the Departments of Foreign Languages & Literatures, Mass Communication, and Theatre & Film Studies.

Departments of Foreign Languages & Literatures has the following programme areas:

Postgraduate Diploma in Translation (PGDT); M.A. programme in French, German, Oral Literature, ComparativeLiterature and Translation; and Ph.D. programme in French, German, Oral literature and Translation.

Department of Archaeology and Tourism offers M.A. and Ph.D. programmes in Polaeolithic Studies, Iron Age Archaeology, Origins of Food Production and Urbanization, Cultural Resource Management (Museum or Tourism Option), while the Department of Fine and Applied Arts offers M.A. and Ph.D. in Art History and Art Education as well as MFA in the areas of Textiles, Sculpture, Painting, Ceramics, Visual Communication Design, and Printmaking.

Department of English and Literary Studies offers PGD, M.A. and Ph.D. programmes in English as aSecond Language (ESL), English Language, Literature, Comparative Studies & Literature.

Department of Linguistics, Igbo and other Nigerian Languages offers the following areasof specialization:

M.A. in Linguistics, African Languages, Literature in African Languages, Translation and Interpreting and Ph.D. in Linguistics, African Languages and Literature.

Department of Theatre and Film Studies offers M.A. and Ph.D. in History of Drama and Theatre; Dramatic Theory and Criticism; African Drama and Theatre; Acting and Directing; Playwriting.

Department of Music offers M.Mus, M.A. and Ph.D. in African Music Industry Ensemble/Theatre Directing& Management, Music Education &
2 Research, Composition & Musical Instruments Technology.

University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Aba Campus also offers PGD programme in Nigerian Languages Education (Conversion programme).

The Department of History & International Studies has no facilities for postgraduate programmes in all areas for the 2013/2014 session.
