Tears flowed freely at Eleyele Area in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Wednesday, when an undergraduate student of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, suddenly ran mad.

The incident created commotion in the area as sympathisers and residents wept uncontrollably after witnessing the incident.

The neatly dressed undergraduate whose identity was unknown as at the time of filing this report, was said to have just alighted from a commercial vehicle and was seen buying bread after which he suddenly ran mad by making incoherent statements and tearing his clothes.

The bread seller, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the undergraduate had just bought bread from her, wondering what could have happened to him.

She prayed for God’s urgent intervention in the matter.

Another eye witness, Mr Ganiyu Salami, said: “He may have been involved in money making ritual which bounced back on him or he may be smoking indian hemp.”

The undergraduate, who later fell into a drainage system, was thereafter rescued and taken away.

All efforts to locate his house proved abortive as none of those seen with him was ready to volunteer useful information on the location of his house.
