IN an apparent bid to end the ongoing strike by university lecturers in the country, Vice President Namadi Sambo and a delegation of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) met at the Presidential Villa, on Thursday, behind closed doors.

Vice President Sambo has taken over from Governor Suswan as the head of ASUU negotiation team.

The meeting, which took place at the Vice President’s Conference Room, was also attended by the Minister of State for Education overseeing the Education Ministry, Nyesom Wike and the Executive Secretary of National Universities Commission (NUC), Professor Julius Okojie.

On the ASUU side were its president, Nasir Isa Fagge; two former ASUU presidents, Dipo Fasina and Abdullahi Sule-Kano and other members of the national leadership of the union.

The meeting was still ongoing as of the time of filing this report.
