REVEALED: The Reason Behind IMSU VC Indefinite Suspension

Filed in IMO STATE UNIVERSITY-IMSU by on June 10, 2015 0 Comments

A lot of reasons have been given for the indefinite suspension of the substantive Vice Chancellor of Imo State University, Prof. Awuzie by Gov. Owelle Rochas Okorocha. Be that as it may, team took a bold step by going to IMSU to visit some of our old friends who happen to be pals of both Prof. Awuzie and Mr. Governor to find out why the Governor went all out to embarass a man he single-handedly installed.

On getting to IMSU where we spent most of our time with these friends while watching the NASS Election as well; we could not help but appreciate Prof. Awuzie. Granted he did not meet the requirements for VCship, we must say that what we saw at IMSU yesterday (new and gigantic buildings) is indicative of the fact that Prof. Awuzie was really and truly dedicated to duty.

During our discussion, we learnt that the new school buildings are products of TETFUND and that Prof. Awuzie was consciously managing this fund to give IMSU a face-lift. Be that as it may, we can authoritatively tell the reading public that Gov. Owelle Rochas Okorocha directed Prof. Awuzie to release the TETFUND to him, the Governor, for the payment of salaries , gratuities and arrears. This is not far from the obvious truth that the coffers of our dear State is not only empty but that we are heavily indebted.

Unfortunately for Mr. Governor, Prof. Awuzie bluntly refused to release the TETFUND saying that he CANNOT divert funds meant for the development of the University. Anybody who knows Prof. Awuzie back in his days as ASUU Chairman knows that he can be positively adamant. After several attempts, Mr. Governor in his usual lawless manner decided to embarrass the unyielding Substantive Vice Chancellor with an indefinite suspension.

Also, we learnt that the woman who was used to replace him, Prof. Adaobi Obasi is not just Mr. Governor’s first cousin but did babysit the Governor when he was a baby. Our sources described Prof. Adaobi Obasi as a ‘dracular’ and did say that if allowed; she would take the entire Fund in question to the Governor without any remorse.

In line with this investigation, we wish to call on all those involved, ASUU, NANSU, etc; to rise up to the challenge and do the necessary needful towards putting an end to this level of impunity by the State Government. Say no to Executive recklessness.
