Nasarawa State University Appoint New VC

Professor Muhammad Akaro Mainoma, a professor of accounting, has been appointed the acting Vice Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, by Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.

A statement by Secretary to the State Government Hajiya Zainab Abdulmumin said Professor Mainoma takes over from Professor Aminu Salihu Mikailu.

The governor, on May 16, 2013, sent the entire management of NSUK on a six-month compulsory leave, following their indictment by a committee set up by the government to investigate the killing of students of the university during the February, 2013 protest over scarcity of water.

Professor Mainoma, who was the Dean of the Faculty of Management, had served in the cabinet of Al-Makura as commissioner for finance.
