Report reaching schoolwatch.com.ng has it that, Jigawa State owned university will commence full academic activities in January 2014.
The commissioner for Education, science and technology, professor Haruna Wakili disclosed to Liveschoolnews.com.ng grapevine that the institution will commence full operation with the admission of 8,500 students as first intake.
Speaking while introducing the new vice- chancellor of the university, Professor Abdullahi Ribadu and other academic staff to Governor Sule Lamido, at Government House, Dutse, Wakili said the university would start with 15 courses and three departments, adding that lecturers were drawn from reputable universities based on merit.
Wakili further explained that the new university would compete with the existing state and federal universities in the country as the administration had made concerted efforts for sustainable growth of the institution.
His words: ‘’Jigawa State Government established the state university to enable its citizens advance their studies without any admission difficulties.”
