Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU) has described past president of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Professor Festus Iyayi who died in an accident Tuesday as a dogged fighter and activist who fought for social justice.
SSANU President Samson Ugwoke said the union received the news of Iyayi’s death with shock.
“Late Iyayi was a dogged labour activist whose contributions in the university sub-sector in particular and Nigeria in general cannot be over-emphasized. His steadfastness and commitment to the cause of ASUU has never been in doubt.
His constituency, the Academic Staff Union, will miss his wealthy experience. Death struck when he was most needed,” Ugwoke said.
