Forlorn report reaching schoolwatch.com.ng news desk has it that, Suspected hoodlums yesterday invaded the College of Advanced and Professional Studies (CAPS) in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, raided female hostels and defiled several students.
Liveschoolnews.com.ng grapevine gathered that the hoodlums entered the hostels during yesterday’s early morning downpour and bound the two security men on duty before going ahead to unleash terror on the unsuspecting girls.
They also carted away valuable personal effects and electronic gadgets.
A source said that the hoodlums, numbering over 20, came to the school at about 5a.m. and headed straight to the female hostels.
It was also gathered that while they were operating, some students put phone calls to their male mates, who came to their rescue and chased the intruders into the bush.
The rector of the institution, Dr. Tyotom Keghku, confirmed the incident, saying that the matter had since been reported to law enforcement agents, and that investigation was already in progress.
He, however, denied that some of the female students were defied. According to him, some of the students were in a state of shock, while others sustained minor injuries while struggling to ward off the intruders.
The rector stated that a 24-hour surveillance had been imposed at the premises to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment at the institution.
