Heartbroken Female Graduate Drinks Poison After Breaking Up With Boyfriend

A heartbroken female graduate identified as Elizabeth Okolie in Umuagu, Asaba, Delta State, was yesterday rescued by her friends who were said to have “smelt a rat” about her killing herself with poison over what they described as “ unbearable disappointment” meted out on her by her boyfriend.

Reports said the incident attracted hundreds of youths to the scene as the girl was seen amidst tears being forced to drink red palm oil.

Liveschoolnews.com.ng grapevine was reliably informed that “Lizzy” as she is fondly called, had been in a relationship with her boyfriend, a chemical engineer for seven years until the bubbles broke.

Reports said she was so besotted with him that she had turned down various suitors who came for her hand in marriage, who after their introduction, told her that she was a sickle cell patient.

She was said to have bought some chemical poison which she mixed with water as instructed. But she had only sipped a little, when her friends screamed on her right inside her room.

Speaking to our correspondent, the father of the girl, Ogbueshi Okolie, said the daughter’s suitor wanted an escape route hence he alleged her to be sickle call patient.

He said efforts were being made to placate the angry mob whom he said, helped to take the daughter to the hospital, to allow the sleeping dog lie.
