There was a pandemonium in Kaduna State when a bomb exploded in the hands of a suspected bomber last night, instantly killing him as he tried to install it.
The blast occurred along the busy Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway in the Unguwar Mu’azu area of the metropolis, near the second Kaduna bridge.
The suspected bomber was said to be trying to plant the bomb, which was packaged in an Indomie carton, when it suddenly went off.
A series of loud bangs were heard, making motorists and residents to start scampering for safety.
Members of the Anti-bomb Unit from the state police command arrived at the scene for assessment and investigation.
They recovered parts of the improvised explosive device (IED) and remains of the bomber that littered the scene. Policemen and soldiers combed the area in order to see if other bombs were planted.
