Final Year Student, 6 Others Killed In A Renewed Cult Clash

A renewed cult clash has claimed the lives of seven persons in Edo State, including a 500 level computer science student of the Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma.

The AAU student, Osajie Osamudiamen, was shot in the head at close range at a popular night club at Ekpoma.

Sources said the late Osajie who was until his death the head of Buckaneer in Ekpoma, had an issue with a rival cult group which was said to have been settled before he was killed.

Another casualty of the renewed cult clash was a graduating female student of the AAU who was said to have been given an acid bath. also gathered that one Jonathan, a musician was also killed at a hotel opposite the popular Ekiosa market in the heart of Benin.

Jonathan was also shot in the head at a close range.

A witness who pleaded anonymity said the late Jonathan belonged to a popular cult group called “Eiye Confraternity.”

The witness said Jonathan’s death was what sparked up the reprisal attack among the various cult groups.

According to him, on Saturday, about five persons were killed in different locations around Upper Sakponba area of Benin.

When contacted for comments about the killing in his hotel, the owner one of the hotels, Mr. Felix Akhabue who feigned ignorance of the killing, however said a hotel is a public place.

Attempts to get police confirmation of the killings were also unsuccessful as the state police commissioner, Foluso Adebanjo referred our reporter to the command’s public relations officer who failed to pick several calls put across to his GSM phone line.
