THE Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Delta State University, Abraka, chapter, yesterday, said that the Federal Government has demonstrated a high level of insincerity over its claim to have distributed N100 billion to federal and state universities, given that no university, federal or state, had received any money or any cash-backed allocation from government and as such, cannot be trusted to fulfill its recent promise.

ASUU Delsu, in a statement by its Chairman, Dr Emmanuel Mordi, said: “Congress resolved that government’s offer to pay an additional N10 billion, which amounts to 43.50 percent of the total amount of N55.2 billion it owes ASUU members, is totally unacceptable.

“Congress resolved that government’s offer of N200 billion without even a mere mention of N400 billion, which it committed itself to provide in the 2012 Memorandum of Understanding, MoU amounts to another understanding not based on the 2009 Agreement and the MoU of January 2012, and is, therefore, a violation of both the agreement and MoU.”
