The Federal Government has appealed on the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to go back to work.
The Minister of Education, Professor Ruqayyatu Rufa’I, made the call in Abuja yesterday while addressing State House correspondents onthe outcome of a meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan on the strike.
The minister, who noted that the negotiation with the ASUU was on course, said the government was doing its bestto resolve the issue.
“The negotiation between the government and ASUU is on course. The federal government is doing its best to resolve the matter. The discussion is ongoing and I cannot comment on it for now because I don’t have the mandate to do so. What I can only say is to call on my colleagues in the universities to call off the strike”, she said.
