Now in Nnamdi Azikiwe University, the system of admission is no longer by the presentation of lists, 1st, 2nd, 3rd… to the general public.
But simply “admission status notification”. The best and most secured method ever.
The admission lists are partitioned according to the method of preparation.
Here is a detailed information on all the lists
First, the merit cut off mark for all the departments is decided by the Academic staff and/or the HOD in each department, and then a list of qualified candidates compiled. This list, zikites call merit or first list.
The admission status of qualified candidates for the merit list in all the departments will be updated online first. (i.e Their Admission status programmed to display “Admitted, congratulation on your…”)
The number of the candidates who made the ‘merit-list’ will determine the quota for ‘catchment’.
This catchment list is what many refer to as “second list”.
Catchment cut off marks differ among states with respect to the degree of education deprivation and development in the catchment areas. The admission status of candidates in This second list may be updated in unison with the merit/first list or days afterwards.
After the admission process for candidates through UTME mode of entry had been completed, the PRE-SCIENCE list or third list will be uploded immediately.
The delay in PRE-SCIENCE admission is to ensure that no PRE-SCIENCE student gets a double admission (i.e through UTME and PRE-SCIENCE) thereby depriving another candidate a chance.
Any other list(s) that comes afterwards is confidential
Pre-science aspirants, I’ll write/post a piece on PRE-SCIENCE in UNIZIK next week.
