Members of the presidential cabinet were apprehended last Monday 20th April, 2015 by men of the school security while they enforced the #150 food price.
This was sequel to the cabinet meeting at the union’s secretariat on Sunday.
The enforcement started peacefully at about 9am and was relatively successful till at about 11:45am when men of the school security squad acting on false alarm raised by the affected vendors that the cabinet members were assaulting them swooped in on the cabinet members.
The Chief Security Officer, Lawman Okeke ordered the immediate arrest of all the cabinet members till the dust settles as according to him, there was a foreseen instance of security breakdown.
Security vans were sent to each location were distress call was made from and the cabinet members of His Excellency Snr. Comr. Rotr. Noble Eyisi were escorted to the admin block of the institution.
Questions were asked, allegations raised, propaganda were developed just to blackmail the president and his cabinet members but all attempts proved abortive.
The President also acting on tip off made haste to the admin block B hosting the school security department to clear the already dense air which he did well.
The Officer in Charge of Intelligence said that if he was informed prior to the enforcement he would have known what to do. In his words “If you have told me that this movement was today i would have advised you and known what to do.
Most of you are my friends and Igwah was here yesterday and he didn’t tell me anything about this”.
Locked shops were reopened after a compromise had been reached with the president and his team. The cabinet members were also released at about 3 from the admin block B.
Although it is not clear if the food price reduction enforcement will continue tomorrow we are confident it will take effect as the school management are in support and are looking into logistics for the implementation of the reduction plan.
