Indication has emerged that The Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) will resume classes on Tuesday, 15th July, 2014 following the suspension of the ASUP national strike.

This development was confirmed to grapevine by the Vice President of ASUP in YABATECH, Dr Adeoye Olowofoyeku.

He disclosed that the agreement was reached at an emergency meeting of the NEC in Abuja on Saturday. He added that the suspension was to last for three months during which the Federal Government was expected to implement all the resolutions jointly reached by the union and the Federal Government.

“Our demands have not yet been met,” Dr Olowofoyeku said, “But we have had productive meetings with the new minister. The Re-assessment Committee has submitted their report to the minister. The suspension of the strike is to enable government to begin the implementation,” he said.

The argument to government here is based on the rot and comatose state of most state polytechnics.
