STUDENTS’ UNION GOVERNMENT
UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA, NSUKKA
The Vice Chancellor,
University of Nigeria,
LETTER OF COMPLAINT
It has come to our notice that the Implementation Committee on Environment, headed by Prof. M. I. Uguru, conveyed a meeting with the shuttle operators on Monday 26th January, 2015 in which some critical decisions were taken.
In the said meeting, the movement of shuttle on campus was redesigned and their movement restricted to certain areas. This totally negates the afore agreed routes and price the Union made with these commuters.
With this new route for instance, a student coming to Eyo-Ita/Bello Hostels from town will have to stop at Okpara Hostel as shuttles are no longer permitted to pass through the road from PG > GS > VC’s office & also the road from Arts > CEC > Library > Marlima.
Sir, it is worthy of note that this decision was taken without any recourse to the Students’ Union as a body nor any of it official, not even the Unions’ Director of Transport who is constitutionally charged with the responsibility of ensuring affordable transportation services to the entire students.
We see this decision as a wicked one as it was taking without considering the interest and welfare of students, and without any regard to the Students’ Union Government.
Sir, we address this letter to you because we believe in your fatherly role on issues that affect the students. We duly request that the rationale behind this decision be revisited and a favourable solution be evolved.
It is therefore our believe that through your intervention this decision will be reverted.
