ADEKUNLE AJASIN UNIVERSITY ADMITS 2,895 STUDENTS OUT OF OVER 27,000 APPLICANTS FOR 2012/2013 SESSION.
The Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Prof. Femi Mimiko, has advised the 2,895 fresh students admitted to the Institution for the 2012/2013 academic session to shun any vices that could jeopardize their studentship.
Prof. Mimiko, who gave the counsel at the Matriculation Ceremony of the University, said, “Let me stress that this University has zero tolerance for social vices, including cultism, examination misconduct, rape and vandalism. I, therefore, urge you to eschew these vices and enjoy the best of the education and character training that this University has to offer.”
The VC added, “By the Oath you take today, you construct a relationship with this University. Some took the same Oath years back and had, by keeping faith with its letter and spirit, put this University and their family names on the glistering page of history. Others had taken the same Oath and had brought themselves to disrepute. I urge you to pit your tent with the former so that together with the University, you can become pride to posterity.”
He said AAUA is a social and academic construct governed by rules and stressed that mechanisms toenforce such rules and bring defaulters to justice have been built.
Prof. Mimiko reiterated that AAUA is unwavering in building state-of-the-art infrastructure to bequeath a modern University to posterity and to deliver a conducive teaching and learning environment to both staff and students.
The VC, who congratulated the fresh students on their admission, noted, “Of the 27,000 candidates that applied to the University this year, only 2,895, representing 10.7 per cent ofthe intending candidates were admitted.
In a nation where about a paltry 20 per cent of admission seekers are granted space into Universities annually, you deserve to be congratulated, especially when your admission into this University was achieved purely on merit.”
While urging all students of the University to not only to complement the University’s efforts by observing personalsecurity and staying out of trouble but to also cooperatewith our security personnel, the VC promised that the Institution would continue toput relevant machineries in place to guarantee security of life and property.
He implored the students to observe academic freedom with a high sense of responsibility and decorum, saying “Having undergone the University’s rigorous admission hurdle, we are convinced as a University that we have taken the brightest of the best who are ready to explore our facilities and policies to make good grades and contribute to society.”
To this end, liveschoolnews team wish all Students who were luckily admitted a stress-free academic session.
