Report reaching liveschoolnews domain has it that the Federal Government is planning to shift Engineering students of the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) to other universities.
Students of the Engineering Faculty had started a protest over the failure of the University management to secure accreditation for their programme even after a grace of six months given by the Federal Government which had suspended the programme.
Professor Ruqayyatu Rufai Ahmed, minister of Education, said yesterday that the universities where the Engineering students are to be reposition have already been acquaint. She said this would make way for the Engineering programme to gain fresh accreditation.
The minister spoke in Abuja after a delegation of the National Association of Nigerian Students led by its President Yinka Gbadebo, appealed to the Federal Government to set up an emergency fund to purchase all the necessary equipments needed to facilitate accreditation for the Engineering faculty of the institution
It could be recalled that the protracted crisis rocking the University of Abuja got to crescendo on 20th November, 2012 when the authorities of the institution closed down the institution following a two-day protest by the students.
