Abducted Wife Of UNIOSUN ASUU Chairman Has Been Released

The wife of Chairman, Osun State University chapter of Academic Staff Union of Universities, Mrs. Funmilayo Abiona who was abducted on December, 20 by Gunmen suspected to be cultists has been released.

Abiona was abducted in Osogbo on Friday night after she has closed from her shop around Oke Bale area of Osogbo and was heading home to meet her husband, Dr. Oluseye Abiona, when the hoodlums who had been on her trail caught up with her and forcefully took her away after they had engaged her in hot argument.

Mrs. Abiona was said to have struggled with her captors who eventually overpowered her and forced her into a red car which they used for the operation.

Later on Saturday, Mrs. Abiona’s abductors, demanded a ransom of N50 million before she could be freed.

A source said that the family dropped the ransom inside the bush where the abductors agreed to pick it and two of them were arrested in the process.

The ASUU chairman said that two members of the gang had been arrested by security operatives

Efforts made to reach the Public Relations Officer of Osun Command, Folasade Odoro, DSP, to confirmed the development before going to press failed as her phone was switched off.

But husband of the victim, Dr. Seye Abiona, confirmed the release of his wife but declined comment when asked whether ransom was paid or not for her released.
