Report reaching liveschoolnews news desk has it that the Enugu State
police command has arrested suspected abductors of the Vice-Chancellor, Enugu state university of science and technology (ESUT), Prof Cyprian Onyeji.

A statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ebere Amarizu says that members of the syndicate were arrested after a gun battle with security operatives.

The suspects, nine in all, allegedly confessed to having carried out series of kidnappings in the South east region, including the recent kidnap of Prof Onyeji, who regained freedom 20 days ago.

The Enugu police spokesman said that the police had been on the trail of the suspects since the kidnap of the VC last month, and arrested three of the suspects at about 4pm yesterday.

The three men, Osinachi Iheanacho, Ejike Aba and Obinna Okoro, subsequently led the police to the arrest of others.

Professor Onyeji was abducted on the 15th of August this year by some gunmen who had way laid his convoy at the gate of the university at Agbani.
