3 TASUED Students Wins Altadena, United States Rotary Club International Award

Entrepreneurial and Vocational Skill acquisition of Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ogun State received a boost recently as three students of the institution won Altadena, United States Rotary Club International Award-winning entrepreneurial project proposals.

According to the initiators of the project, Mr. John Frykenberg,who is the Chairman of the International Service, Rotary Club of Altadena; Mr. John Davies and Mrs.Sarah Philips – all from the United States, the aim of the project was to detect vocational skills in the studrents of the University and encourage them to achieve their goals, which eventually saw the three students outstanding in the competition.


Padonu Israel Brown, a 200 Level student of Creative Arts Department, came first with his business name called Card Emotion. The second position went to Adedokun Odunayo Racheal of the Department of Economics (200 Level) whose business name was Handbag Enterprise while Oremuyiwa Adesola M., a 300 Level Yoruba Language student came third with her business name tagged Adex Farm Production. The trio beat other contenders to clinch 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

During the award presentation ceremony, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Oluyemisi Obilade urged students of the University to pay more attention to Vocational and Entrepreneurial studies in order to avoid the alarming rate of unemployment in the country.

She further advised students to take their respective vocational courses serious “as no student can graduate without passing any of these courses”, she added.

Responding on behalf of the Rotary Club International, the President of the Sagamu Central Rotary Club, Rotarian K.B Asaye commended the winners for their doggedness and tenacity of purpose. She, therefore, assured them of continuous mentoring from the United States of America. “I will also urge other students to follow suit by partaking in subsequent training competitions of the Rotary Club International”.
